Student Spotlight

Stefany Martinez came to the United States from Honduras four years ago. Since that time, she has excelled academically, socially, and in many other ways as well. Stefany has a warm and inviting personality and exhibits a great deal of joy. Her dream is to become an immigration lawyer. She has dreamed of this since she was a little girl. She really likes to help people and desires to make things easier for people to move to the U.S. from another country.

Stefany is a sophomore at IVSS and has been with us since 7th grade when her Mom chose IVSS as the best school for her daughter. When asked what Stefany likes about school, she replied, “Everything! I like the teachers and classes. Everyone is so nice. My favorite teacher is Mr. Fischer. I really like math and he teaches Geometry really well. He even tutored me last year when I was taking Algebra I with a different teacher.”

“Regardless of having the obstacle of being a newcomer, Stefany maintains excellent grades in her classes and also has an excellent discipline track record.  She participates in school athletics and is outgoing and caring with other students. She is an all around all-star.” Misty Gajewski (teacher)

“This student has overcome her language barrier and has become one of the schools highest scorers. She always has a smile on her face and is kind to all she meets. She is involved in different sports and band. This student is stellar in every way.” Eddie Tirado (teacher)

Stefany plays basketball, volleyball and soccer. She loves soccer so much, she plays on two teams - the IVSS team and a club team. She is also involved in dance at her church. She rehearses regularly and performs on Fridays and Sundays.

Stefany says she does her work in class because she wants to be someone in life. In order to be successful she advises, “If you have a dream, never give up, always look forward, and always fight for what you want. If you feel like you don’t have support, put God first in your life.”

We’re proud to call Stefany an IVSS Eagle!
