Leadership is no joke for senior, Carlos Quinones. Coach Hodges and Coach Powell are extremely impressed with his leadership and performance on the football field. Ms. Jensen, one of Carlos’ teachers and his track coach, says, “He has played football, basketball, and track for 4 years and is a leader on every team. He is graduating high school with 2 years of college coursework completed and he is always willing to help out teachers and classmates.”
Carlos has played football since he was 4 years old. He was quarterback, so he was expected to be a leader on the field. Now, he looks at other areas of life from a leadership perspective. He’s always been the one to take command of the team.
Outside of school Carlos enjoys drawing. He especially likes drawing cartoons with pencil and paper. It’s something he does just for fun. He also enjoys his family a great deal. He has very close relationships with them and they are his primary motivators. When he starts to get lazy, they tell him to get up and hit the books!
As an IVSS student since 6th grade, the friendships he’s built here are his favorite part of his school experience. He also likes the fact that he and his friends can talk to Ms. Jensen about things other than school. They often hang out in her room when they have free time.
Carlos has applied to the University of Texas and Texas A&M University. He plans to pursue a career in architectural engineering. He likes both drawing and math, which are a great fit for his future pursuits.
We’re proud of you Carlos! Thanks for leading your peers with integrity and strength.
